WWVA Wheeling WV on 1170 kHz made it through to Pinelands on the 31st May 1977 via the Siera receiver and 20 metre longwire antenna. I was fortunate to receive a QSL card in response to my reception report.
The three WWVA 122 metre free standing antenna towers. Built during the 1940s, the transmitter plant building has a bomb shelter with 1 metre thick walls! (Photograph with kind permission from Ken Andrews).Station id "A Country Radio Legend - WWVA Wheeling " was recorded during early 1989 at Fish Hoek via the FRG7 and 40 metre longwire antenna.
